For this gourmet gift basket we have assembled a collection of sweet treats from around the Rocky Mtn. Region that will remind you of what sweets tasted like before people invented artificial flavors and ingredients.  We are talking serious gourmet, mouth watering sweet treats. Many of the following artisanal producers have won awards, they make hand crafted products, not industrial scale foods. Periodically most of us give in and indulge our craving for something sweet.  The economy may still be wobbly, but we're living in a sweet-happy land, which is really good news.  For many, sweets are the center of gravity when we think of comfort foods. But what's a person to do?  How, do you "separate the wheat from the chaff" so to speak?  We like to think the focus now is on giving value—not the fluff, but good quality products that you can sink your teeth into.

Handcrafted Aspen Crate - We take the issue of sustainability seriously. Everywhere you look around Telluride and the region the eye settles on large stands of Aspen trees.  Some of the trees in our area are cut and then milled in nearby Mancos. The resulting boards are used by a farmer near Dolores to handcraft our crates; he does woodworking in the winter and farms in the summer. A truly local product, not a basket made in Asia.

Minnie Beasley Almond Lace Cookies  6 oz - An award winning cookie!  Rich and delicious right down to the last crumb.  Cookie lovers everywhere be forewarned, these are addictive.  Made in Denver, Colorado. 

Dutch Brothers Bakery Caramel Cookie Waffle  11 oz - Traditional Dutch "Stroopwafles" Cookies hand baked on flame fired irons with the finest ingredients by two brothers from the Netherlands.  The meld of flavors is to die for.  Made in Billings, Montana.

Sheila's Sweets Caramel Candy  4 oz - Sheila's Sweets specializes in Caramel. They make all of their Caramel candy in small handmade batches.  Quite likely the best Caramel you have tasted.  Made in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
